Altered Wooden Shapes Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month we are highlighting the wood embellishments that Close to My Heart offers. This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.  If you are coming from Michelle Loncar’s Blog, you are on the right track!

Wood shapes are great because you can use them in their natural state or use a number of different color options to customize them to fit your project. For the wood images in this layout, the title is colored with the TriBlend marker, and the stars are colored with a shimmer brush. I do not use yellow very often but I am loving the bright color of theLemonade Shimmer Brush and it adds a nice pop of color!

Supply List:  Party Time Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet, Fancy Borders Thin Cuts, White Daisy Cardstock, Nectarine Cardstock, Sapphire Glitter Paper, Birthday Borders stamp set, Nectarine Ink, Wood Stars, Love Today Wood Titles, Lemonade Shimmer Brush, True Blue Shades TriBlend Marker, and Black Journaling Pen (.03).

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto Darlys Recker’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!

  1. I love this layout and the use of the shimmer brush & marker to alter the wood.

  2. That pop of yellow is so pretty (and I am not normally a yellow fan)! I like how you still see the wood texture but also have the bright shimmer.

  3. Oh wow! Your layout is great and I do love the pop of color on the wood shapes!
